Dove Cameron

Dove Cameron is an American actress and singer. She is best known for acting in Disney Channel's original series Liv and Maddie. She was born in Seattle, Washington and has been singing and acting since she was8. She has a dual lead role as Liv and Maddie Rooney in the show. There are many other characters in the show as well as her family. Liv and Maddie have two brothers named Joey (Joey Bragg) and a younger brother named Parker (Tenzing Norgay Trainer), while the parents are played by Kali Rocha and Benjamin King whose names' are Karen and Pete. The twins were separated when they where about 11 because Liv got a chance to go to Hollywood and become an actress and now that they are back together the show shows the life of a teenager in a big family. While they have many problems they always help each other and give a good lesson at the end.

Liv and Maddie has a total of 4 seasons and the fourth came out after they announced it would be the last of the show. Maddie loves sports and is especially good at basketball. Liv has had a successful carrier in Hollywood and is now back at her hometown trying to get use to the family life. Joey is a smart teenager and is fascinated by cats and he has many cat shirts which sometimes lead him into trouble at school. Parker is an exceptionally smart boy who has a mischievous personality. Karen is the high school psychologist and later  on becomes the vice-principal. Pete is the high school's basket ball coach and later accepts the offer to coach a college team. Over the years Parker has built underground tunnels in the house and Joey accidentally destroys them which makes their house collapse. Maddie is accepted by a college in L.A. so the family moves there except for Pete who stays back where he is coaching. They live with Karen's younger sister and her daughter. I loved and hated the final episode, I loved it because it was one of the most interesting episodes ever because there were a lot of things happening such as Liv's show, Parker's science school, Maddie's basketball games and her grant to build small houses for the homeless and finally it was Karen's last summer with her kids. I hated it because it was the last episode. Liv and Maddie first premiered on September15, 2013. It had more than 5.8 million viewers and was the most watched series since Shake It Up.

Dove has also been a part of many movies such as Bits And Pieces, Barely Lethal, Hair Spray Live, R.L. Stine's Monster Ville, Cloud 9, Descendants 1 and 2 and many more. Descendants 2 has not yet come out will be coming in July, Descendants 1 was however released in 2015. It was viewed by over 6.8 million people. The movie was about the next generation of some famous villains and princesses. Dove Cameron acting as Mal was the daughter of Maleficent. Some of the other characters were Sofia Carson (Evie), Booboo Stewart (Jay), Cameron Boyce (Carlos), Mitchell Hope (Ben) and Sarah Jeffery (Audrey). Evie, Jay and Carlos are the children of the Evil Queen, Jafar and Cruella De Vil. Ben and Audrey are the children of Belle and the Beast and Princess Aurora and price Phillip. The 4 villain kids' tasks are to steal the fairy Godmother's wand and free their parents as Ben's first proclamation is to give the new generation a second chance. While they try to fulfill their task they discover that they don't have to follow in their parents' path, but make their own decisions.

The Unquiet Past By: Kelley Armstrong

In the book The Unquiet Past there is a girl named Tess. Tess lives at an orphanage and has lived there for 15 years. She is going to be 18 soon and will be given a clue about her family and will be free to live anywhere and do anything she wants. Tess is at her friend Billy's house at the beginning  of the book when she notices her orphanage burning down. She quickly rushes towards the orphanage as she is not supposed to be at Billy's house. The orphanage burns down, but everyone escapes and no one is hurt. As a result Tess and the other girls that are close to the age of 18 are given the clue about their families. Tess  receives an envelope which contains an address and a phone number. She calls the number but the operator tells her that the number is no longer in service, the address however belongs to a town near Montréal in Québec.

When Tess reaches Montréal she does some shopping, but as she is heading across the street she sees a man walking in the middle of the road, not looking where he is going. A car comes from behind him and hits him, but goes right though as he is a ghost. Nobody else looks at him and Tess realizes he is one of her visions. Since she can remember she has been having visions about the past  and can hear, see and touch the people she is watching, however they continue on with their lives as they can not hear, see or feel her. She travels to the city Sainte-Suzanne and goes to the address in the envelope. She meets a boy there who is a few months older than her whose name is Jackson. He offers to help Tess on  her mission finding her parents after she told him why she was there. He spoke fluent French and was good at English so she agreed n having him around and thought it would be very helpful.

They found out that the house was a mental hospital and that they would find more clues about Tess's past at the university. While they are going to the university, they decide to inquire about Tess's visions. They found out that there was a crazy scientist and he tried making people who thought they had mental problems better. He locked them in rooms that were the size of small closets and he also put them in dark coffins. Tess and Jackson's  mothers were there. Tess's mother thought she was insane because she saw visions like Tess. At the end Tess decided to live with Jackson because they were very good friends now and it's not like she had a home back in Ontario.

This book is a Red Maple Award nominee. Grade 8 students in schools all over Ontario read these 10 books in 10 weeks and vote for their favourite. I will definitely be voting for this book as it is my favourite among all the books that I have read so far. All the other books had sad endings. but I really liked this books ending. I thought the idea was really unique and the name suits the book really well.

This book reminds me of the time I was lost in NYC. My dad was in India that time and I was there with my mom visiting my uncle. I was 6 that time, but I remember it very well. We were going to a mall to celebrate because my uncle had passed his test and so did his friend. While we were going my uncle decided to teach me his number and address because we were bored. When we were at the mall I wanted chocolate and I told my mom and she said we will go in a minute. I went by  myself because she talking to my uncle and they were deciding where to have lunch. I had some money in my pocket and I bought it from one of the machines by myself. When I turned around they were not there. I started crying and then I remembered what my mom said "if you ever get lost, go to the nearest shop and ask to use the phone". I went to Claires and they called my uncle and they came very fast. The whole way home my mom was holding my hand so tight that I thought I would lose my blood circulation. Even today if we go to a place with a lot of people my mom will hold my hand and my dad will hold my brother's. I have told my mom many times that she does not need to hold it but she still does.

           .
As I read the story, I didn't feel like I was reading it but like it was real, just like Tess's visions. I could hear the characters and see them as well. It was like I was there while it happened. This usually happens when I read very interesting books. This happened while I was reading all the Red Maple books. Over all I really liked this book and would rate it 10/10. The book was inspirational and had a lot of interesting things.

I also read another book in this series which is called Shattered Glass. Just like in this book in the beginning the orphanage burns down, but in Shattered Glass we read how they woke up and how they felt in the building at that time. After Toni who is the narrator in that book receives her clue she goes off to find more about her past just like Tess. Overall I really like this series and will definitely read the other five books in the series Secrets.

Every Day By: David Levithan

At the beginning of the book a character called A is introduced. He/she is a spirit traveling from one body to another everyday. When A is in a body he has access to the person's memories. One day he is a boy named Justin. Justin has a friend named Rhiannon who A falls in love with. The next day and the few days after that he tries to meet her, for example, A pretends to be a person moving to their school and asks Rhiannon to show him around. The next day he is Nathan and goes to a party Rhiannon will be at. He gets late going home because he lost track of time while talking to Rhiannon. If he is not asleep by midnight he gets ripped out of the body, so he decides to park Nathan's car on the side of the highway and goes to sleep. He finds a website a few days later which Nathan made about that day. He tells Nathan the truth and Nathan continuously messages him asking more questions. He later on tells Rhiannon that he is a travelling spirit, but Rhiannon does not believe him. The next day he is in the body of Rhiannon and writes a note to her for when she returns.

Rhiannon falls in love with A as well, but  they have trouble keeping their relationship because A goes into a different body everyday. Nathan calls A and tells him this is the last time he will ever bother A if he agrees to come to Nathan's house. A agrees, but when he goes to Nathan's house there is a priest there that wants to talk to A alone. The priest tells A that he is too a travelling spirit like A and they can stay in a body forever if they wish to and can do much more than A is doing right now.

A calls Rhiannon and tells her this is the last time he needs to see her. She comes and they stay in Alexander's tree house in the backyard. A tells her he knows how to stay in a body for longer, but won't because he does not know what will happen to Alexander. Rhiannon gets very upset with him and asks why he called her here if he was not going to do that. A says he can't keep her like this and he thinks Alexander is a lot like him so he wants Rhiannon to be with Alexander.

This story makes me wonder if there are any spirits in real life like A that travel from body to body every day. If there are do they leave any traces behind that they are real. I wonder if they can stay in a body longer than one day like how A discovers later on. What happens to the person when someone like A is in their body? What would happen to the person if the spirit found a way to stay in their body forever?

I was really surprised when A went into the body of Rhiannon who was the girl he liked. Each chapter started with the name of the person who’s body A was in and how far he was from Rhiannon. In the chapter that he was her, every paragraph would begin with “this is how it feels to hold a pencil in her hand” or something like that

The story problem was that A and Rhiannon liked each other, but they could not find a way to stay together because A goes into a different body every day. A found out that there was a way to stay in a body longer than one day and called Rhiannon to talk to her about that. When Rhiannon at Alexander’s house the person that A is for the day, he takes her to his tree house and tells her that he can stay in a body for longer. Rhiannon is really happy, but then he says he doesn’t want to which makes Rhiannon very upset. He tells her that Alexander’s like him and if she looks close enough she will find him in there. He tells her he can’t stay in that body because he doesn’t know what would happen to Alexander.

I did not like the ending because it was very sad. During the book when A was not with Rhiannon or when she did not reply to his e-mails right away, he would be very anxious. At  the  end  he  just  left her  with a guy he thought  was  like  him.  A  found  out  how  to  stay  in  a  body  longer  than  a  day  so  I  think  he should  have  just  stayed  in  that  body with  Rhiannon.

Overall I really liked this book and would definitely recommend it to whoever likes reading suspenseful books.  I thought a character like A was a very creative idea. I would rate this book 9/10 because I did not really like the ending.

Animal Kingdom by: David Burnie, Dr. Barry Clarke, Colin Mccarthy, Laurence Mound and Steve Parker

In the book Animal Kingdom, Discover the extraordinary world of animals I learned many things about animals. I thought the coolest animal was the immortal jellyfish and here is a video about it:

This book is organized by the kind of animal they are talking about, for example fish, amphibians, reptiles, insects, birds and mammals. I liked how this part was organized because you could easily find the animal you were looking for. The chapter names were more specific like  the animal's past, how it is in the present, bones, shapes and colours as well as where and how they live.

One way the authors made the topic interesting was by adding colourful pictures and little paragraphs on the side. I thought this was a very clever way to give more information on the animal. The paragraphs had interesting information on the topic the chapter was about. The colourful pictures made it easy to know what they were talking about. It was great for visual learners.

This book makes me more curious about the extraordinary world of animals and I want to learn more about animals. There were many animals that were interesting such as Elephant bird which is now extinct. The Elephant bird's egg is  more than 7 times bigger than an Ostrich egg, which weighs about 1.5kg.

Image result for elephant bird egg vs ostrich egg
On the left is the Elephant bird's egg and beside that is the Ostrich egg, beside that is a Chicken egg and to the very right is a Humming bird egg.

The illustrations were very helpful understanding the topic. They also had labels, especially when they were explaining the bones and the muscles  of the animal. There were some maps as well showing where all the animals lived.

Overall I really liked this book and would recommend this to anyone who wants to be a vet or even if they like animal and want to read about them. It was a really nice book, but it was very time consuming. It was very informative, which I like.

Geronimo Stilton And The Dragon Prophecy By: Geronimo Stilton

In the book Geronimo Stilton And The Dragon Prophecy, Trap, Geronimo's cousin  throws a party at Geronimo's house while he is away on vacation. This reminds me of a time when my family and I were at the mall and our neighbors came into our backyard and the kids asked their grandma if they could jump on our trampoline, without asking us she said "yes"  to the kids and they were jumping on our trampoline for almost 2 hours. When we came back, nobody was there, but our trampoline was a little ripped. Our neighbors did not admit that they came there, but we saw the proof on the camera.

After about two weeks the Dragon Of The Rainbow arrived at Geronimo's house. He took Geronimo to the Kingdom Of Fantasy and on the way they stopped the magical talking trees from burning down. As a token of their appreciation they told him why princess Sterling needed hid help and gave him a clue on finding the stolen egg. I believe another reason for this might have been to teach kids to help anyone they can on their way.

After Geronimo reaches Sterling's castle, he is served dinner which is very spicy since mostly dragons live there. He slept very uncomfortably on the rock bed. The next day she tells that he will be sent to a place to investigate the incident, the location of the egg had to remain a secret so Geronimo was blind folded. That reminded me of when my brother and I created a special gift for my parents. We blindfolded them so they would not see it.

At the end, Geronimo figured out King Fire Breath lll stole the dragon egg following Crackle's command. He used the clues and figured it out with the help of his friends. At the end he thanked all his friends and they had a big party to celebrate and he could ask for anything, but he didi not want anything. King Fire Breath was banished, but then Geronimo reconsidered his wish and asked not to banish King Fire Breath. This part taught me to always forgive even if they do something bad to you. but are truly sorry.
Overall I thought the book was really good and I really enjoyed reading it. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend especially if they like reading fantasy books.
